On Wednesday at 8:00pm in Kiambu county at Ikinu village, there was a fire tragedy that was caused by a candle that caught the mattress hence spreading and burning the whole house, which led to explosion of two gasses that led the whole house to crumble and fall.  This tragedy led to loss of materials, and also a young life of a four year old boy that died in the fire.

IN WHOSE HANDS ARE WE SAFE!?

Its sad how the Meru culture embarrasses khat "miraa" more than other people's lives.  Most of the youths in Meru most especially the sides of Laare, KK, Mutuati and many other places worship khat because of the value they consider it to have. The other day I visited a place in KK and met a young man whose hands were chopped off by the owner of the khat shamba claiming that the man was stealing and that he decided to chop his hands off. My big question was, is the government not there.? Why are this people taking action in there own hands. In whose are we safe.? I hope the and believe that the government can intervene in this issue and get to take protect the lives of Meru people. After a few weeks too, a lady was amputated her head off, because she tried talking to another man. This was reported in Meru too. The man is out there free roaming around. He is an animal and justice should be served no matter the case. People should stop taking actions for themselves yet there...

JUSTICE FOR THE POOR

When I interviewed Dr. Lilian Munyua, this is what she said; "Every time I am treating a rape victim especially young girls, it reminds me about a lady I schooled with at Tumutumu Girls High School before I proceeded to KMTC - Nairobi. My friend proceeded to UoN -Main Campus to pursue a Bachelor of Mass Communication degree. Ann was a beautiful brilliant student and had scored straight A's at Tumutumu. Surprisingly, despite her starring performance, she preferred to pursue Media studies as most of us went into the medical profession. I would later meet a dejected Ann at Aga Khan Hospital where I was working before moving to KNH🏥. Ann had been drugged and sexually abused (raped) by a Bank Executive who had invited her for a late lunch date. According to Ann, she had met the man severally at Barclays Bank 🏦where he worked and this was their first meeting outside the banking hall. They had lunch in one of the old hotels along Kenyatta Avenue, close to where the gentleman work...

MAJUU MENTALITY

Image
"Majuu" is a sheng' word mostly used by africans which means abroad. In african's mindset, the term "majuu" symbolises success.Travelling abroad seems to be an endearing idea on the beginning  of their journey to success. In reality, when one member of a family gets a job abroad, the whole community is called upon to celebrate. This african's mindset has distorted the virtue of patriotism. According  to the viewpoints and ideas that I acquired from different  sources, it is a clear implication that this statement is largely supported. Diana ; "Yes it is true that when one travels abroad, he or she gets to interact with different  kind of people and able to get opportunities  that enlighten his or her future."  Erick ; " Opportunities  are everywhere  but in "majuu" are more since they look at your skills mostly and not level of education." The  "Majuu" mentality has really  detered  Africans from exploring great opp...
