The Political Heat Amid 2022 Elections By: YVONNE GATWIRI With less than thirteen months to the next general election in Kenya, many political leaders are running up and down to form political coalitions that will help them win the presidential seat in the first round. Deputy president William Ruto and his allies are making several trips to different parts of Kenya to get satisfactory votes from the citizens. To achieve this, he has been distributing motorbikes, wheelbarrows and wheel carts to small business operators to help them earn their living. However, statistics show that for him to win , he must retain the same vote that earned jubilee victory in 2013 and twice in 2017. This means he has to gain not less than two thirds votes in the ten Mount Kenya counties. ``That won’t be a walk in the park for him,`` says political analyst Lloyd Wasike.
