BLACK LIVES MATTER

 

The implementation of the notion 'Black lives matter' should be inaugurated by supporting the blacks at our home countries and developing self-love.Plato, a greek philosopher once said,''Reality is created by the wind, we can change our reality by Changing our mind.''

The black communities are still using skin tones and features to discriminate others.This comes in as a result of mentality created by people that black is ugly.How does it feel to be discriminated by your own people?This brings out the feeling of betrayal and makes the people with dark skin tone to feel inferior,ugly and thus lowering their self-esteem.

There was a day I was walking along archives in Nairobi,hurring to pick up my friend Lucy at Technical university of Kenya.It had rained in the morning so the places were muddy.I was walking along with a light skinned lady who accidentaly splashed some muddy water on a light-skinned lady walking beside us.The lady instead looked at me furiously and shouted,''Black ugly bitch!'' I was tongue-tied.The doer of the action walked away silently ,as if nothing happened.

In this context ,the judgemental action, vividly creates a mentality that blacks are always on the wrong. This school of thoughts has made the white countries to view blacks as criminals; when executed false accusations are put in place to cover-up.

The words 'black ugly bitch' conveys a message that the dark skinned people are not only black but also ugly.This mentality has lowered dark skinned people's self esteem, reduced their self-love and thus making them to indulge in bleaching activity using risky bleaching creams all in the name of gaining a light skin tone inorder to look beautiful.This act of blacks not believing in themselves has made the whites to disrespect us and treat us as non-humans.

As they say the hate you give is the hate you get, the young children have grown up with mindset of discriminating the dark skinned people.Martin, four years old; my neighbour's son always tells me that he dreams of marrying a light skinned girl because they are beautiful.

Africans should first hault discrimination of people based on their skin tones.Blacks should embrace self-love,know their worth and rights.This will make them to be respected by others including the white people.Being black is an honour because we came from greatness and everything has beauty but not everyone sees it.The enemy takes advantage of our weaknesses and fears.Nelson Mandela- ''I learned that courage was not the absence of fear but the triumph over it.The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid but he who conqueres that fear.''
