If there was ever an army of people who have suffered in life, and lived to tell the story, Mr. Mathew Aol Nyamlori, would be a Five Star General of that army. This man, whose middle name literally translates to ”I am tired” has pushed the limits of patience, beyond what physicists call the ‘‘limit of elasticity’’ and overcome all conceivable odds to achieve his greatest goal in life; academic excellence. It is the reason why on 23rd July 2021, Mr. Nyamlori, 38, was trending in Kenya. This man literally took over all social media platforms by storm. And he did so for a good reason. On that day, Mr. Nyamlori graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Kenyatta University in Kenya. Mr. Nyamlori is no stranger to fame. For sometime now, he has been a constant fodder for th...

SELF ACCEPTANCE

Image
The journey to navigate through thick and bushy forest of life begins with a single step of self evaluation."A person that knows the ropes is not likely to get tied up,"Mae West. Each human being has strengths, weakness, likes and dislikes that calls for realization.Selection of friends and those to include in our innercircle acts as an endearing idea because it realy contributes to our success. Understanding oneself acts as   cornerstone of our survival success for the coming years. This raises our self esteem that no external discouraging words can damage our innerself. There are four areas when worked and researched on enables us to know more about ourselves and what to achieve in life. Unknown area This area consists of information that is not known to oneself and others. The information may include; abilities and talents that when discovered gives us opportunity to make wise career choice. Open area This entails information known to both oneself and other people.I...

BLACK LIVES MATTER

Image
The implementation of the notion 'Black lives matter' should be inaugurated by supporting the blacks at our home countries and developing self-love.Plato, a greek philosopher once said,''Reality is created by the wind, we can change our reality by Changing our mind.'' The black communities are still using skin tones and features to discriminate others. This comes in as a result of mentality created by people that black is ugly. How does it feel to be discriminated by your own people? This brings out the feeling of betrayal and makes the people with dark skin tone to feel inferior, ugly and thus lowering their self-esteem. There was a day I was walking along archives in Nairobi, hurring to pick up my friend Lucy at Technical university of Kenya. It had rained in the morning so the places were muddy.I was walking along with a light skinned lady who accidentaly splashed some muddy water on a light-skinned lady walking beside us.The lady instead looked at me furious...

A MEMORY OF ELEPHANTS ON THE MODERN CAMPUS 2

Image
The continuities amid the changes and the distinctiveness of the unfolding Australian canvas may be seen to result in part from the ways by which structures or systems designed to meet needs at one stage have developed their own conditions for persistence even when the initial reasons for establishment are no longer relevant or better technologies have become available. With regard to the structural form of the Australian higher education landscape Glyn Davis has observed that one institutional type persists: “The concept of path dependency helps explain the consistent choices of Australian universities. Choices made in the middle of the nineteenth century have endured, in part because universities did their job well, in part because the direction of travel was reinforced over a century and a half by legislation, public expectations and academic culture. The incentive to remain close to the original idea has proven compelling, defeating even legislated initiatives to creat...

A MEMORY OF ELEPHANTS ON THE MODERN CAMPUS

Image
Indicative assumptions underlying higher education policy in Australia i 1945-1985-2015: academic, statist & market perspectives Michael Gallagher, Honorary Senior Fellow, LH Martin Institute, The University of Melbourne In the contemporary policy debates on higher education in Australia there is more than one elephant in the room – obvious truths that are not being recognised and addressed. Perhaps there is a score of them; or to prefer the more colourful collective noun, a ‘memory’ (rather than a random ‘herd’ or showy ‘parade’) of elephants on the modern campus. And, with apologies to Oscar Wilde: to forget one is unfortunate; to deny many may be careless.ii Current debate on higher education policy in Australia, principally regarding the deregulation of tuition prices for domestic undergraduate education and the related matter of structural diversity of supply, has brought attention to several areas where different participants appear to be working from different assumptions...

LIFE

Image
Moving Day and settling in. Due to wanting to live closer to the city centre, I moved from my  house in my first year, second semester to a flat in the city centre for my continuity in school. Moving back to Liverpool was great; I felt like I was coming  home, much to my parents’ displeasure! For the first week back, I worked a few days for the university in  my job as an Ambassador, showing potential new students  round while becoming reacquainted with the campus myself. When lectures restarted, it seemed like summer had  disappeared in a matter of minutes!  However, I was eager to get learning again and looked forward  to seminars and lectures on the books and topics I had been researching over the summer.  Students from older years had warned me about my year being pretty scary, so I had prepared well  and really enjoyed the first lectures from my new modules. Reconnecting with my societies was  doubly fun, being the President of Comb...

HISTORY OF CAKES IN KENYA

Image
The history of cakes started back in the ancient times. The first cakes were very different from what we eat nowadays. They were bread like and they were sweetened by honey. Due to technology, cakes advanced with time and were brought in many different types, design ms and flavours. They have also helped so many people to get jobs since bakeries were opened and many other industries for cake making.  Looking at the ancient times, it was more healthy than nowadays, since cakes at that time had no lots of chemicals, and they were so natural. But nowadays, cakes are added with different chemicals even for preservation and storage also.

A RARE END COLLISION

Image
A matatu driver was driving along the surface lane approaching the Ruiru flyover at around 2:40 PM, a car  was trying to overtake the matatu, causing the matatu to get into an accident as it lost its direction and went towards the bridge, where by the matatu got crushed. The owner of the vehicle who caused the accident rushed to the matatu guy and pushed him from his matatu seat throwing him to the wall mercilessly. Yet the matatu driver was trying to avoid the accident to be bigger thus driving towards the bridge. The matatu driver got injured on his back and was unable to walk well.  Later, after almost an hour, it's when the  managed to come at the scene and see what had happened. The car driver was arrested and the driver was taken to the hospital. Both vehicles, the matatu and the car were also taken to the police station.   It's good when drivers drive to be very careful on the roads and avoid overtaking. Always follow the rules.

This is heartbreaking Why did they let this girl die? This was a slow & painful death. Some boarding schools are worse than prisons. There has to be consequences. I hope the authorities will investigate Beryl's death &those culpable must face justice.
